Application:

Shampoo:
Use the shampoo as often as needed, but as little as possible. The general guideline is about 2–6 times a month, but every head of curls is different, so find the right rhythm for your curls.
If you tend to use shampoo more often, focus the shampoo on your scalp and hairline. This cleanses the roots and removes the body’s natural oils without drying out the ends (the oldest hair) too much.

Conditioner:
Conditioner is probably the most important product in the shower. It seals the hair cuticles while locking moisture into your hair. This helps make your curls easier to comb through. After all, it’s the frizzy cuticles that can make combing your curls so unpleasant.
On days when you don’t wash your curls with shampoo, simply use the conditioner to rinse your hair. So, wet your hair with water, work the conditioner in with your fingers, detangle (comb) your curls, and rinse.

Always use conditioner in the shower!

Despite all the benefits, you should never apply conditioner (or styling products) to your scalp, because the desired effect on the hair—closing the cuticles to make it easier to comb and help retain moisture longer—is not at all desirable for the scalp! Here, too, the conditioner would clog the pores of the skin, which can lead to itching, dandruff, or an oily scalp.

Leave-in:
This leave-in product defines and enhances your curls while moisturizing your hair. Apply the leave-in to towel-dried or wet curls. Rub a small amount between your palms and work it into your hair with your fingers. Comb through the curls again if necessary. Finally, scrunch (not for Afro hair). Scrunching helps your curls take shape even more beautifully.
To give your curls more life and bounce, start applying the styling products about a hand’s width away from the scalp. This will help the curls hold their shape more easily, especially with finer hair, wavy, and curly textures.

Mousse Use the mousse to set the curls defined by the leave-in conditioner. Rub the mousse into your palms and work it into your curls with your fingers. Then scrunch them one more time to finish.
